Krakow: A Kaleidoscope of Culture

Krakow: A Kaleidoscope of Culture

Krakow, with its rich history, gorgeous architecture and dynamic culture, is an excellent choice for student travellers, particularly at Halloween. You will find a wonderful atmosphere as the weather gets colder and Autumn leaves cover the city. Personally, I have not travelled to Krakow before, but it is on my bucket list! In this blog I will guide you through how to discover the cheapest flights and hotels as well as Autumn activities and nightlife.

Flights

Many airlines offer budget friendly flights, especially from Belfast. Ryanair provides direct flights which can take around three hours, allowing you to maximize your time exploring this beautiful city and all it has to offer.

Tip: Keep an eye on comparison websites, such as Skyscanner, for the best discounts, especially if you book early or have flexible travel dates. This will make your Krakow adventure even more accessible!

After extensive research, I have found the cheapest time to fly to Krakow is the 23rd of October with return flights for only £106. This includes flying from Belfast to London for a 1-hour layover (very convenient) and then straight on to Krakow, and the nicest part is that the evening trip home is direct, so no waiting around.

Affordable Accomodation

Finding a comfortable and cozy hotel doesn't have to drain your wallet, Krakow offers a range of budget friendly hotels, hostels and Airbnb rentals.

Tip: Krakow provides numerous options of public transport, and walkable distances make it easy to explore the city.

Recommended places to stay;

Located in the old town, this hotel exceeds expectations for only 94 a night. This includes their signature Polish breakfast as well as a direct airport shuttle so you can settle in right away!

MEININGER Krakow Centrum

From only 8.53 a night this hostel offers a range of amazing amenities and is only a short walk from the city centre. It has 9.2 stars, 24-hour security and an amazing unique interior.

Wawel & Old Town Krakow

This stunning Airbnb sleeps 2 people for £49 a night! This is the perfect place for couples or friends to stay for a fraction of the price in comparison to some hotels.

MUST VISIT SPOTS

Rynek Główny (Main Market Square)

It's free to come and explore one of the biggest mediaeval squares in Europe. It has 4000 square feet of museums, pubs, cafes and many other attractions, this is a must see!

Kraków’s Planty Park

This serene park, which encircles the Old Town, is ideal for a leisurely stroll and offers a beautiful and reasonably priced place to unwind.

Pubs in Kazimierz

There are lots of unique pubs and taverns in the Jewish Quarter that serve reasonably priced drinks and frequently have live music or cultural activities, especially in the winter months.

Tip: Look out for happy hours to get the best deals!

Kraków's Clubs

Some clubs offer free entry before a certain time, and student discounts are common. This allows you to still enjoy yourself while remaining cost-conscious, what could go wrong!

Overall, Krakow is a rewarding adventure waiting to happen. I believe it is the perfect destination for students who are looking for a relaxing city break but also vibrant nightlife. For my part, writing this blog has motivated me to plan a trip and see all the wonders Krakow has to offer.
